Meaning before performance
The right term is one that communicates the idea accurately. A more elaborate word is not automatically a better word.
It started with everyday language.
The starting point for Exact was simple: wanting to rely less on “very,” “a lot,” and “kind of”—and find more precise words in everyday conversation.
That question grew into a larger one: what if students had a place to practice explaining their understanding, instead of only turning in a finished answer?
A space to say “I don’t know,” hear a useful follow-up, and work through an idea would have made a difference to the learning experience that inspired Exact. That is the experience we are building for others.
